Event Related Potentials (ERP's) are electrophysiological brain activities that are generated as a response to stimulating the sensory modalities (visual auditory and Somatosensory). The short latency potentials are elicited by the activation of the relevant modality in the cortex, while the long latency potentials reflect cognitive brain functions. Due to the high sampling rate, the temporal resolution of the ERP's is extremely accurate. ERP's are used to explore high brain activity during cognitive neuroscience tasks, cognitive psychology tasks, psycholinguistics tasks, neurolinguistics tasks, neuropsychology, and neurology.
By the proper design of an experiment, the researcher can explore the perceptual and cognitive processing of the brain. Using a mathematical model he is able to correlate between the ERP's and their physiological source.
S. Gilat Medical Research & Equipment Ltd offers an optimal user-friendly state of the art system to stimulate record and analyze ERP's. Gilat Medical system can deliver any kind of auditory, visual, video and Somato-sensory and can integrate most external stimulators. The ERP system can be combined with fMRI system to get both a highly accurate temporal (ERP system) and spatial resolution (fMRI system) data.
The system is composed of Micromed high-quality EEG clinical amplifiers with 32-256 channels (CE and FDA approved) and Gilat Medical integrated Visual, Auditory, Video, and Somato-sensory stimulator.
Our software offers a special innovative algorithm that enables the identification of ERPs often masked by non-physiological artifacts such as the ones caused by a cochlear implant, we also remove physiological artifacts like eye movements and eye blink.
We provide a highly sophisticated but user-friendly wide variety of signal processing software packages with objective measures that enable quantitative discrimination between tested and control groups e.g. normal versus pathology patients, before and after treatment.
These measures include:
Conditional Signal Averaging.
Power Spectrum Estimation.
Automatic Peaks Detection.
Center of Gravity calculation.
Area under peaks evaluation.
Quantitative parameters of P1, N1, P2, N2, P300, N400.
The analysis software provides various types of FIR filters: Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass and Notch.
The ERP's results are displayed via the PlotERP procedure.
Subject's Behavioral response is analyzed and provides information regarding the latency delay of a single response, correct, wrong or miss response as well as average, standard deviation and median statistical measure for each paradigm.
ERPs data can be exported to ASCII and be imported by commercial software like EEG lab, Matlab, SPSS...
A special utility exports the ERPs data to be easily uploaded by sLoreta™ (Standardized Low-Resolution Brain Electromagnetic Tomography). sLoretaTM is a well known and widely accepted mathematical model to estimate the Dipole Source Localization of the ERPs by estimation of the Inverse Problem.
